One year hence

So the whole blogging about food idea was a bust. But I will add two things today:

I made a really awesome pork and rice stick noodles dinner last night. It looks really awful so no pictures but heres the recipe.

You can make it with any sort of meat, I used pork tenderloin.

Cut meat into thin strips and marinate in:

2 tbsp Soy Sauce
1.5 tbsp Powdered Ginger
1 tbsp garlic

After 0.5 hours marinating cook in oil until done, also cook and drain pasta or rice.
Make 2 cups of sauce from a combination of:
Soy sauce
Worcestershire
Vinegar
Ginger
Sesame Seeds

Meanwhile heat in a skillet:

4.5 tbsp oil
2 cups onions
1 tsp crushed red pepper
4 cups cabbage
3 sliced carrots
1.5 tbsp white vinegar
Sauce

Add cooked pork and pasta, toss. Top with seaweed.

First!!

So I decided I wanted to try out this blogging deal today in Pharmaceutics.

I was looking up anything and everything to distract me from class and I found a page of quotations about food. I thought, wow I love food and cooking. So I figured it would be fun to write about what I make/eat and never ever show it to my sister at the Culinary Institute of America because she would flay me alive for some of the gross concoctions I deem edible.

To start here are some of those quotations I found really awesome:

After all the trouble you go to, you get about as much actual "food" out of eating an artichoke as you would from licking 30 or 40 postage stamps. ~Miss Piggy

I like it because artichokes are impossible to prepare, or so I've heard from Alton Brown.

When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste. ~Laiko Bahrs

As my sister would say, "Baking majors are pussies"

You can tell how long a couple has been married by whether they are on their first, second or third bottle of Tobasco. ~Bruce Bye

The trouble with eating Italian food is that five or six days later you're hungry again. ~George Miller

There are only ten minutes in the life of a pear when it is perfect to eat. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I love pears, but the risk you take of biting into something hard and chewy is almost not worth it.

So there you go. A pharmacy student with a blog about food. Enjoy!
